CARPENTRY AND CONSTRUCTION

Course Description:
In this first year course, students develop building construction skills required for entry into apprenticeship training or entry-level jobs in the construction industry.  Topics include safety, construction math, orientation to the trades, hand and power tools, blueprints, site layout, framing, and hanging windows and doors.  Students will participate in building sheds and other projects on the school campus as part of this course and earn NCCER Core Certification and OSHA Certification useful for future employment.  District bus transportation is provided.

ADVANCED CARPENTRY AND CONSTRUCTION

In this second-year course, students continue learning through actual construction projects while also completing studies to obtain NCCER Carpentry Level 1 certification.  Topics covered in this advanced course include residential electrical systems and safety, roofing, exterior finishing, cabinet installation, plumbing, and ceiling, joist and roof framing.  District bus transportation is provided.
